Naomi Frears
Artist in Residence July - September 2023
Naomi Frears took part in a residency here at CMR from mid July to mid September. Alongside making works on paper she filmed the rhythms and comings and goings outside the building from her vantage point on the top floor. She also documented her two month residency in a concise studio journal.
Naomi Frears is based in the Porthmeor Studios in St Ives. Her practice includes work with film and video, as well as printmaking, painting, and collaborative curatorial projects.
Recent solo shows and commissions include Men Falling and In Other Words, Exeter Phoenix Gallery and RAMM Exeter and Somebody Loves Us All, Bold Tendencies, Peckham.
She was commissioned to make a large painting at Bethlem Royal Hospital, London by Hospital Rooms. Naomi was nominated for this years Jarman Award for artists film.
Her work appears regularly on the cover of the London Review of Books and is held in public and private collections including The Government Art Collection.
